Post – IYG

Inter-year games ended yesterday! Although the turnout was lesser than we expected, everyone had fun!

First up was the soccer game. Teams registered were Orange (year 2s), Sugar (year 1) and Daddy (year 1). I am no soccer guru, so i don’t know much about how the soccer game went. I’ll rope in the referee to talk about the game!

Netball was cancelled due to poor response, and the girls went to play tennis! It was my first time playing tennis, and i was paired with qianli. I missed most of the balls, and he picked them up. Balls were flying everywhere. But everyone had fun, laughing at each other’s mistakes and smacking the ball away from one self. Somehow, i sense the vent of anger that went into each ball. Must be the fact that it’s the last week of holidays looming in everyone’s mind.

Tennis and soccer happened concurrently. Hongyi very kindly bought red bull and 100 plus for everyone, while Ronglin (densoc president) bought chips! I could feel the love (for us) emanating from the both of them!! Everyone guzzled down the drinks and chips were lunch for that day.

Basketball began at near 12pm? We had our brains fried, playing under the hot noon sun. Tan lines started appearing everywhere, at the most unsightly places, but the game went on. The guys were very competitive, shooting basket after basket. The girls played as though it’s netball, cuz most of us are not apt at dribbling the ball.

Ok, as you can see, i’m not very good at sports commentatory. This’s the pub 2nd i/c, giving her 2 cents worth. Hopefully the rest will update more, and give you a clearer picture!

What i’m trying to convey here is, everyone had fun! It was a great day with great ’sporty’ weather, and it definitely helped in the bonding of fellow dental students. Everyone got their noses out of their books, worked up a sweat and burned some calories!

What more to ask for? Having fun, getting a great tan and losing weight at the same time!

I’m expecting the same for next year’s IYG!

Yes, i’m ending your agony of waiting! I can see you bouncing up and down in that dental chair of yours, revving up for the great game ahead. No no, don’t get down to the field with your team yet! We need to know who’s participating! Fill up the form with your team’s particulars, and if anyone’s underaged (we take all precautions, so don’t worry), you need to get your parents/guardian to sign on the idemnity form. No, i’m afraid not. No signatures, no kicking. =( So do get all the required forms ready when you come down. So! What’re you waiting for? Yes, go ahead! You can run around the field 20 times for a warm up, followed by intensive training by your team captain. The competition IS only one month (or so) away, so you gotta work hard to earn the glory and honour (and not to mention, *ahem, bragging rights till the next IYG)!

Be Propaganda

The poster is up. The timetable looks all set and snazzy. How cool is that.

Now, what we need, as a final touch, is some participation. We can make this more than a class event of year ones competing against one another like every other monday. Right, so help us a bit. Spread the word to your line, glorify and sensationalise it. Make IYG the event to be on 26th of April. Waitaminute. Is it 26 or 28? You decide.

And the crowd grew silent, their cheers dialed down to a murmur. The watchful eyes of the many spectators followed the ball as it bounced up and down, slowly gaining distance, making its way to the side of the court. The echo of each bounce was deafening. The ball, guided by the swift and sinewed hand of the player, make its gracious arch into the air, aiming for the basket.

And it missed. Greeted by a groan, a frown and a “yes!” by the opposing side.

Oh wait. Interyear games have not started yet right. So much for writing a commentary.

 Anyway, we seriously questioned the rationale behind this blog, just as much as we non-religious questioned about genesis and apocalypse.
